Do you think that we can choose meals to help us create the energy that we are seeking in our lives?
There are some theorists that believe that the food we ingest has its very own energetic qualities, just like the universe and the air. The belief is that these energetic forces can impact you significantly throughout the day. I’m not talking about the nutrients, vitamins, or minerals here. I’m talking beyond the composition.
In traditional Chinese medicine, for example, every food has a distinct energy and properties that can help balance our bodies and make us healthy, or that create imbalance and ultimate sickness. This is much of the reason that food is considered a form of medicine to traditional Chinese practitioners, and is ultimately used to help not only nourish, but also harmonize the body with the mind and spirit.
This is a vastly different approach than the dominant one in the West. In America, for example, foods are often characterized by their fat, protein, or general caloric content. Though knowledge about these contents, in conjunction with vitamin and minerals, is somewhat beneficial, it fails to take into account the individual body and individual needs. This effect on an individuals’ human body includes qualities such as temperature, flavor, and action. Some foods are hot and some are cold. Some are salty and some are sweet. All foods act upon and move throughout our bodies in different ways.
The general concept is basically that the energy from food can help us create the energy we seek in our lives.
Now think about what you ate today. Was it animal meat from a tortured animal or one that lived a peaceful existence? Was it fresh produce or processed food? Did it come from an egg, sprout from a seed, or was it birthed?
What kind of energy do you imagine that you received from your food choices?
