Attorneys & Property author Marina Constas is a specialist sectional title attorney and a director at BBM Law , which has branches in Houghton , Bedfordview , Pretoria , Umhlanga Rocks and Cape Town .
She is an authority on Sectional Title and advises body corporates , Marina is also the co-author of the best-selling book , " Demystifying Sectional Title ", which is the definitive guide for anyone living , buying or leasing property in a sectional title complex , or anyone who deals with sectional title in any manner .
Marina Constas is also the founder of Women in Sectional Title ( WiST ), an organisation working towards supporting women in the property by connecting and sharing information . Marina believes that women are currently , according to Lightstone stats , the largest group of property buyers in South Africa today . She believes however , that they are largely underrepresented , unacknowledged and unheard of in the property space . Women may be buying and snapping up a lot of properties , but they are still being left out in the cold when it comes to holding key leadership positions and having their voices heard in the property sector .
I am regularly consulted about conflicts in which women involved in different aspects of sectional title – from tenants and owners to trustees – are ignored and even bullied in what is still a largely male-dominated industry .
