If you think I am being overly dramatic , consider how the dissemination of information has changed over the years . It was not long ago that the only real source of information was from books . Books written by learned authors that had to go through a vigorous journey of research , only for that research to once again be scrutinized by publishing houses before it ever reached the printing press . These days anyone with a cell phone can video and post anything they want – and that can be very dangerous to the uninformed . I think all South Africans are currently loving the amazing run of success that our Rugby side is enjoying on the global stage . It is easy to forget that when Rassie Erasmus took over the coaching roll , South Africa was ranked 6th in the world and were fresh off a record defeat of 57-0 against the All Blacks . But being at rock bottom laid the perfect platform for Rassie and instead of coming up with hundreds of ideas to fix SA Rugby .
Instead , Rassie came up with just 3 simple objectives :
1 . Fix transformation 2 . Develop squad depth and 3 . Win the Rugby World Cup .
Time has shown that he achieved this and more in a short space of time . In his book “ Essentialism ”, Greg McKeown touts a similar message – that success in life and in your chosen field consists in the elimination of nonessentials . It is also learning and training yourself to say “ no ” more than “ yes ” if you want to stay on track and reach your investment goals .
