INSPIRATION
Gender Transformation
in Real Estate For decades , we have been calling this industry a male dominated industry , but it ’ s still not transforming fast enough . Statistically , there are more women than men and this means that there are more women needing to work , but this is not projected in the industry demographics . Even though this work may be demanding and sometimes even risky , it ’ s important to ensure that there ’ s a larger representation of women .
Statistics indicate how enormous gender prejudice is in the industry , and because it has many males it has given the perception that males do better or survive better , but that could be due to many reasons . Racially , it is also suprising to see that black people are still by far the lowest represented . The question is what really needs to be done ? We know that unless the current inequalities change , the problem will soon burst and more damage may be done . So why not willingly transform the industry ?
An Inclusive for
all Women of Colour ? I believe that women can achieve anything , when they see how important it is for them . There are already a number of women in powerful positions in the property industry , but it ’ s quite minimal . Therefore , women of colour could start by empowering themselves through acquiring knowledge and skills in order to be bold enough to knock on doors or to kick down doors or create the doors themselves .
If we are not doing it ourselves , or doing whatever we can to make it happen , it will not happen . Women need to want this more , and with the built-in resilience , they can build and contribute towards growing the numbers themselves and not depending on other , or programmes to do that . Let women be those projects that can be studied in years to come to say they did it because we know women can when they know it and want it bad enough .
Skills Development
& Mentorship in Transformation Sometimes people may not know much about the property industry , and therefore , we have to look at how we introduce it to them , so that they can understand and be inspired to want to be part of this industry . Therefore , work has to be done to first prepare the landscape to allow people coming in to know the realities of the industry , but also be prepared to tackle it and make it work for them . I have no doubt that the potential is there , but is there sufficient exposure to the intricacies of the industry , and what this business is all about .
It is important to realise that mentorship is hard work , but it works when both parties are willing to put in
