B eing this is a mystery issue, I realized there’s more to “mystery” than only being a popular and worthy genre in the reading world. I mean, who doesn’t love a great mystery? The suspense, the constant feat of trying to figure out what the outcome will be – what will happen next, and the popular “who dunnit” factor? Humbly, JLB Creatives Publishing has been living a mystery of success ever since we opened our doors in January. After researching the industry for three years, alone, I found that opening a publishing company which would, in time, prove to be a success was going to take far more effort than one person could even begin to handle. I didn’t become defeated. I knew it would happen – just not then. I knew the people were out there that would make the JLBCP team exactly what it needed to be, and a small still voice kept saying, “Put it on the back burner…the right time will come.” So I did just that. While the publishing company was on “simmer” I continued to write my novels and self-publish them one by one. She made the remark that she wanted to hook up and see what we could do together to make things happen in the literary world. She mentioned she thought there was more to me than met the eye, and knew I would make a good team player in the industry. Honored and humbled in the same breath I graciously extended my gratitude for such a compliment. Soon our lunch date had turned into once-a-week meetings. After a few weeks she looked at me and said, “We need to become a publishing company that presents worthy authors the opportunity to get their works published in a professional manner. Whatta ya think?” Needless to say, I nearly choked on my latte`! I said, “Are you kidding me?” Then I proceeded to explain to her what I had been working on the past couple of years. We spent the remainder of 2013 preparing, researching, and planning, as well as hand-selecting a JLB Creatives Publishing team of literary professionals we had networked with along the way. The JLBCP team we put together holds a combined total of 100+ years experience in the industry. January 13, 2014 arrived and five women found
