I know it seems like an age ago but
the 6th Annual Snowman Spectacular
happened since our last issue. Back
in December over 550 of the county’s
movers and shakers joined us at
Chestnut Tree House’s ball raising a
staggering £265,551 on the night for the
children’s hospice.
Guests experienced an exclusive
evening of magical entertainment in
a winter wonderland setting inspired
by Raymond Briggs’ iconic Snowman,
while raising vital funds to help Chestnut
Tree House care for life-limited children
and their families. A ‘white carpet’
experience set the tone for the evening
making guests feel like celebrities and
the event was hosted by Peter Cornwell
and broadcaster and campaigner, Anne
60
Ball
Diamond who had visited the hospice
in September to see for herself the vital
care provided for local children with
life-shortening illnesses. Said Anne “I
was delighted to be asked to host the
Snowman Spectacular Ball and, having
met some of the children and staff at the
hospice, I know what a wonderful charity
this is and what a lifeline it is to local
families.”
Other celebrities at the Snowman
Spectacular included DJ, Pat Sharp,
who played a special set for guests to
dance to, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Tony
Bloom and Inigo Calderon. A number
of celebrities sent 10th birthday video
messages of support for Chestnut Tree
House, including Richard Branson, Linda
Lusardi and Downton’s Hugh Bonneville.
During the evening, guests were
transported to the world of The
Snowman through magic, music and
illusion, culminating with the famous
‘Walking in the Air’ theme sung by Jamie
Will-Taylor and accompanied by ‘Britain’s
Got Talent’ semi-finalists, Gospel Singers
Incognito, and gasps of amazement from
the audience as the Snowman ‘flew’
above their heads and real snow started
to fall.
This was the third Snowman Ball we
have sponsored for our nominated
charity and a great night was again had
by all.
