Describe your perfect book hero or heroine.

I love anti-heroes/heroines! I write rebels because I'm drawn to funny, dark passionate characters who make mistakes because they're the misfit geek or outcast, rather than the popular hero...but then they go on to save the world. Both Violet and Light (my leads in the REBEL VERSE) are outsiders, like Spike in Buffy, but their loyalty to family or love is what drives them. A perfect lead immerses you in their life, so you go on a true journey with them...thrilling and redemptive!

Of your own books, who is your favourite character, and why?

So TOUGH!! All right, I fall in love with my characters. LIGHT in REBEL VAMPIRES is special because his voice took hold and would not let go until I told his story. He was also sparked by my son who's an autistic savant and remembers everything he sees. Light's a savant: I wondered what it'd be like for a vampire to live through the centuries and remember all the glories and horrors with the clarity of a photograph...

VIOLET, from REBEL ANGELS, is pretty much my alter ego. She's sassy, kickass, and also the geek misfit who becomes the most powerful saviour of the world... Who wouldn't love writing that?

What's your favourite food to snack on when you're writing?

Chocolate... and not just whilst writing! This is my reward food though: finish a draft and receive chocolate... See, authors can be motivated! Violet in VAMPIRE HUNTRESS is a chocoholic, which is an in-joke with my Rebels (my amazing followers!).
