BROADVIEW CAMPUS
What a year it has been at Broadview ! As a community we finished 2019 well , celebrating Christmas in our community , building connections with Nailsworth Primary and the City of Prospect and seeing new faces join our church family . As we began 2020 , we could see quickly that this too would be a year of growth and change .
In the first months , some of the original adventurers from Rostrevor felt that the time was right to return home . We are deeply thankful for the seed that they planted and watered at BBC . In their wake , we have seen local leadership continue to develop just in time to carry our community through a year like no other . To support myself and Rachael in our leadership at Broadview , we established a “ Pastoral Discernment Team ” a small group of people with whom we have been able to share ideas , strategies and concerns with as we make decisions for the year ahead . They have continued to provide valuable insight and guidance , and have been a prophetic voice for us . We feel extremely blessed by their genuine love , care and passion for us and our community .
Pre-Covid , we had a number of key volunteer leaders step into roles at BBC . Sandy Bartel has been a key leader in administration , helping to put rosters together and helping us to make serving in our community on Sundays , sustainable for all and strategic for what is to come .
Ashlea Medlin took on the role of local Worship coordinator and under her leadership , the team has flourished and developed . Our hope as a team is simple “ in all things - wait on God and be led by His Spirit ” and Ashlea has led the way in this : from creating our Facebook live Friday night worship to love our community during the break , to rethinking teams , our gatherings and song choices to help the " Broadie " community worship God .
In our kids ministry , Sarah Morris has provided invaluable leadership and creative direction . During the break she worked alongside Tash Pillay ( RBC Children & Families Pastor ) to provide kids packs for our community and then took on the role to recreate our space and provide creative support to our leaders . The kids space continues to creatively evolve under her leadership and is a beautiful setting for our kids to build community , learn about Jesus and thrive . Recently , Reuben and Jodie Salagaras began to relook at our curriculum and we have explored a new teaching series in Term 4 which works well with the size and age range of our kids church .
Even in all things , Broadview continues to grow and mature in 2020 . We have seen many new faces join our community who have already become part of the family . We are excited by the continuing changes to our facility , the faces of kids playing and the Christ centred family that is being built across the life of this community . Our hope for 2021 is to see even more fruit from what God is building , to see lives changed , people loved inside and outside our walls and decisions made to follow King Jesus .
