A market moving forward

The conversation around the property market has shifted over the past month.
The Reserve Bank’ s( RBNZ) decision to increase the Official Cash Rate( OCR) has naturally focused attention on interest rates, inflation, and what comes next for the economy. While those factors continue to influence confidence, they aren’ t stopping people from making property decisions.
What we’ re seeing across the Ray White network is a market that continues to move forward.
Confidence isn’ t returning overnight, but it is building steadily. Buyers and sellers are adjusting to current conditions rather than waiting for perfect ones, and that’ s creating a more resilient market than many expected.
One of the biggest changes isn’ t the number of buyers in the market, but how they’ re making decisions. Buyers are taking the time to do their homework. They’ re researching more, comparing properties and asking more questions before they commit. That isn’ t hesitation; it’ s simply a more informed and measured market.
Importantly, the reasons people buy and sell property haven’ t changed. Families continue to upsize and downsize, people relocate for work, investors reassess their portfolios, and first home buyers continue to enter the market. Those decisions are being driven by life, not headlines.
We’ re seeing that reflected in our own network.
