Welcome to the fifth issue of RAPPORT!
As RAPPORT was the house journal of the Centre for Recording Achievement, it is likely
that this will also be the final issue (see below).
This journal aimed to share international thinking and practice around the topics of
recording, reviewing and reflecting on achievement in learning, personal development
and employment; action planning for learning and development; e-portfolio and related
technologies to support and enhance learning, achievement and the development of
personal identity. The first three issues accepted papers on a range of topics: Issue 4
was a Special Edition devoted to the collaborative international seminar Eportfolios and
more: the developing role of eportfolios within the digital landscape, organised jointly by
CRA and AAEBL at Dublin City University on 23-25 May 2018.
About the partners for this Special Edition
The Centre for Recording Achievement.
First established as a two-year funded Project in 1991, the Centre for Recording
Achievement (CRA) grew into a major network organisation and a registered educational
charity. Throughout its life it sought to ‘promote the awareness of recording achievement
and action planning processes’. The organisation was formally dissolved in 2019.
The work of the Centre built upon, facilitated and energised the increasing use of a range
of ways of encouraging learners to identify, articulate and evidence their learning and
experience, to reflect on this and to plan the next step(s) in learning employment or other
settings. This focus and common interest brought together practitioners from apparently
disparate professional communities, including careers counsellors, academics, learning
developers, further and vocational education tutors, university administrators and
educational technologists: a diversity which members overwhelmingly experienced as
enriching. Over time, the focus of its work included the National Record of Achievement
in schools and colleges, Personal Development Planning in Higher Education, the
development and implementation of e-portfolio practice, assessment practice utilising
Portfolios, and employability and employee development.
CRA led or contributed to a range of funded projects at national and international level,
including some involving employers, professional and statutory bodies and other key
stakeholders. In partnership with others, it organised and delivered a range of
