Hard Rock Cafe Helsinki

Finland's very first Hard Rock cafe that opened its doors to the public in October 2012 sure is everything it promises; excellent food, great service and good fun. Having visited Hard Rock cafes previously in other cities such as London and Rome, it wasn't quite the amazing experience as it was the first time I stepped into a Hard Rock cafe. Nevertheless, Helsinki's cafe doesn't fail to bring you that ”big city feeling” with all the glamorous rock star stuff hanging on the walls. What I was quite surprised about was the large size of the restaurant/bar area, and how the tables were smartly arranged, so you wouldn't get that claustrophobic feeling.

The staff were all really nice and polite. We even got a better table since it was my birthday, which was pleasant. But what I really wasn't expecting was that all the waiters and waitresses spoke only English. Now of course this was no problem for me, but it was surprising. After all, we are in Finland and I'd expect a fair amount of the cafe's customers to be Finnish, and there might be Finnish customers who don't know much English.

Hard Rock cafe is a great place to have some quick drinks, but I wouldn't recommend it as a dinner place. Not because of the food, which was excellent, but because you can barely hear your own thoughts while dining.
