Rancho Margot: Diploma Project Nov 2013 | Page 15

Nothing really stood out to me as unusual during the visit time. Although the natural processes in the rainforest ecosystem are very complex, the visible elements of this ecosystem are very subtle. Unless you keep a keen eye on the environment around you wouldn’t really find it different. That being said, I mustn’t forget that it rains a lot in this region. That is something that I thought stands out among many properties unique to this environment. Before the 3rd week I got an understanding of all the processes and activities in the ranch. Although I didn’t know about everything in detail, I got a general overview of this place. And I didn’t wait to start working on the infographic based on the image that came into my mind about the ranch. An illustration where I tried depicting the overall processes in the ranch. When I made it, the people liked it. People inside the ranch could understand and make sense of it. By the 3rd week I had an overview image of how to ranch works. But to progress further with my work, that is to make the content for my infographic and production video more complex and self sustaining I had to learn a bit more about the activities and processes in the ranch. I always knew I could refer to the blog posts and articles about the ranch and maybe do some research about permiculture practise and certain topics that related to what was practised here. But I kept that for later. I knew I would find enough time to explore a bit more on several topics after coming back to India. During the last days of my time there, I documented on video the activities that took place in the ranch and started making a map of the ranch which included all its amenities.
