QUESTION
Around 2002 we saw UKG begin to split further in to the
various sub genres such as 4x4, Break-Step and Grime. This
era also brought with it an attitude change. The House &
Garage scene was always recognized for its high end fashion
and glamour whereas the then new wave of music brought in
a far more casual and street look. The music started to
become less soulful and more aggressive. The vocals and
melodies were being replaced in favor of instrumental tracks
with heavy baselines and with the MC’s beginning to take
centre stage over the DJ. As veterans of the UK House &
Garage scene how did this era feel to you and which musical
paths did you choose when the scene began to so heavily
divide?
ANSWER
This is true some of the tracks we could relate to, but others
not so. But we will always lean to the more musical side of
House & Garage.
