RAMSEY and FEN 20 QUESTIONS - EXLUSIVE TO NICE 'n' EAZY | Page 3

3 QUESTION You were a big part in the launch and running of London Underground 89.4 FM which ran from 1995-2002. As well as yourselves the station was home to Daryl B, Jason H, Hermit, Danny Foster, Jason Kaye, MC Rankin and many more who were to go on to become some of the UK House & Garage scenes most recognized and influential artists. The nineties saw an influx of pirate radio which made it an exciting time for the promotion of underground music and parties. Although, there were not many pirates back then who were able to pull off a birthday rave at such an iconic venue as London Underground were able to at the Camden Palace (now known as Koko). How did the station come to be and what was it about London Underground FM which made it so popular amongst the other pirates of its day? Did your time on the station play an integral part in promoting your career? ANSWER Ramsey & Fen left Freek FM to help form London Underground. The pair enlisted a raft of UK garage DJs that read like a ‘Who’s Who’ of founding fathers including Danny Foster, Hermit, Jason Kaye, Richie Fingers, Daryl B, as well as a pre-Dreem Teem Mikee B, Timmi Magic and DJ Spoony who all met at the station. The fact is there was some true flavor on the station to propel it.
