What’s the single-most important message
you want to put out into the world?
I’m most inspired by feeling misunderstood. In
songs, just because someone seems weak, doesn’t
mean they are. I write for the underdog and those
who are misunderstood. There are a lot of unkind
people in the world. So I write a lot about that. This
new EP has a song called “Human Condition,” and
there’s a song about anxiety. I find the humanity in
my music. It’s all super personal. It’s all very heat of
the moment. It can be heavy. Songwriting is good
therapy though.
In a very non-morbid sense, what legacy do
you want to leave behind?
Definitely modesty. But not uncool modesty. There
are so many things in social media that are so sad.
Women just show it all. I don’t want that to ever
be something I’m representing personally. Also,
vocals are so important to me. I want my work to
be very vocally driven. I want people to know that
I have strength in my voice. But I just want a really
positive vibe. I want people to think of me and think
of something good.
