RADIOACTIVE EFFECTS?

The question of whether or not the general public is in danger of radiation has been coming up a lot. Finally, we are looking into the issue. What might be happening around us that we don't notice?

The World Health Organization has recently come out with news about the radiation exposure in the ocean. They estimated that the levels of radiation could cause “somewhat elevated” rates of cancer within local populations. (1)

Around the test site in Fukushima, the Japanese government has stopped the consumption of certain types of fish, for the peoples safety.

In 2012 the Japanese government had started, yet again, to allow the public to eat Octopus and Whelk, which is a type of sea snail. However, there is still a variety of fish that one cannot eat such as flounder and sea bass.(1)

Besides the problems explained above, there is now a new and upcoming threat to the human population,Strontium-90. Strontium-90 is a bone eating isotope which is a biproduct of fisson of uranimum and plutonium. (2)
