Air-conditioning Technicians of the Anglophone African Network in Kigali, Rwanda. Hosted by UNEP OzonAction and the Rwanda Environment Management Authority( REMA), this workshop emphasised cross-border mentorship, technical training and community-building among female HVAC & R technicians.
“ Highlighting these perspectives is crucial for creating a more inclusive and sustainable industry in South Africa,” Matshaya noted, reflecting on both local and regional efforts.
The launch concluded with a call to action for all attendees:
• Touch the tech – own and showcase technical expertise
• Join the map – register on SARACCA’ s regional database to increase visibility
• Bring someone with you – mentor the next generation and expand the network
• Build the Net – sign up for the regional database and join INWIC
By fostering mentorship, visibility and practical support, Women in HVAC is helping to redefine the HVAC & R sector as a high-skill, climate-conscious and inclusive industry. International Women’ s Day 2026 was more than a celebration – it was a declaration that women are shaping the future of South Africa’ s cooling industry. RACA
