After the formalities, speakers planted a tree outside the
premises and proceeded to officially open the Brand shop
and facility. Guests were taken through the brand shop to
view a range of LG products. Troy Gower, general manager,
air conditioning and energy solution division, took the VIPs
through the Air Solution Academy explaining the benefits of
each product section for malls, villas, apartments and offices.

LG also has a building management solution called Becon
that allows engineers the ability to have a single system that
manages a whole building, including its air quality on one
device. “Our newest range are the round cassettes that were
first installed at Cresta shopping mall, offering an all-round
capability of heating and cooling – reaching capacity in a room
quicker thus using less energy,” he explained. With the Becon
system, Gower says that you have the ability to either control
one air conditioner or a group of a conditions or an entire
building including lights and so on. “The reason why you want
to bring it all in one is for control and visibility, two – for the
purposes of electrical consumption, and number three is the
maintenance around.”
The Academy is fully registered with the necessary
accreditations in place. The Academy offers various courses
related to air conditioning like installation stages related to piping,
pressure testing and vacuuming, electrical, and starting up. It also
goes through Case Studies and provides a hydro kit introduction.
Certificates are handed out to cadets. “They also receive an
accreditation card that’s valid for a year. They of course, come
back after a year for a refresher course,” concludes Gower.
