RACA Journal I June 2019 EAST LONDON OPERATION One of KZN’s primary duct manufacturers, Cox Manufacturing also set up a new factory in East London in December 2018. This was to provide approximately 25 000m 2 of rectangular and spiral ductwork for a client, who was awarded the prestigious Mercedes Benz Paint Plant project. This is a benefit for East London with the factory housing both an automatic rectangular duct line and spiral duct machine. Over and above standard ductwork, the factory will also supply kitchen canopies, industrial ventilation systems, dust extract systems, cyclones, sound attenuators and general welded products to name a few. This base will also allow the factory to supply nearby areas including Mthatha, the Transkei, Port Elizabeth, Wild Coast and the garden route. Having worked at Defy and Whirlpool for nearly 10 years, Gary Matthews has been appointed the East London operations manager who ensures that the ducts are delivered on time and at the highest possible standard. Matthews is supported by his team of more than 20 people, which includes a qualified sheet metal worker. “Gary has a wealth of knowledge and qualifications on lean manufacturing, which is welcomed in our industry,” said Mike Cox of Cox Manufacturing. NEW DUCT LINE MACHINE Cox acquired a new 100% British-made automated duct line for its KZN operation.
