This is Donna ’ s last issue with QAB Magazine as an editor and designer . She and her husband , Brad have been married for fifteen years and have read many answers over the 22 issues she designed . They have submitted their own to this issue , and may be suggesting some future edits . Each answered separately . Brad and Donna Graves
Married : 15 years Occupation : Brad is the VP of Sales for David ’ s Cookies and Donna was the former Editor in Chief of QAB Magazine They lived in Quincy for 10 years and are now living with their five children in Chicago
1 . What do you remember about your wedding day ? D : I remember waking up to a note Brad left me . I was excited and nervous . It was a beautiful day for October , 70 degrees and sunny weather . I remember being with my sisters and friends as we got ready and I remember walking down the aisle to Brad with my dad and the mariachi music serenading us as we walked . I remember it being a whirlwind of a week and the best time with our family and friends . B : I remember seeing Donna in her wedding gown as the doors were opened and her father walked her down the aisle . In that moment , I was overcome with joy and excitement . I remember our families helping with all of the details to make sure we had a beautiful day , the great party that ensued and trying to organize all 14 of us who flew to Cancun for our honeymoon at 6 AM the next day .
2 . What song played during your first dance ? The Prayer , sung by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocceli
3 . What advice would you give a couple planning their wedding now ? D : As a former wedding professional , I think it ’ s important to have fun . It all feels so big and so important as you are planning . But it really is the most exciting and precious time . It should be enjoyable . That , and have a wedding film made . I think a lot of people overlook them and we did not have one made . It would have been fun to show our kids . B : Enjoy your day with family and friends . There aren ’ t many times that you will have the whole crew together .
4 . What have you taught your spouse ? D : That socks with sandals is a “ no .” He still wears them , but at least I have taught him how wrong it is . B : That men don ’ t control the remote in every house , wait … maybe that is another thing she has taught me . It is really hard to recall after 15 years .
5 . What has your spouse taught you ? D : More than I can fit here . To be more patient and to strive to be more selfless . He has never complained about trips to the store or about changing a diaper or shoveling snow . Every day he does whatever has to be done to provide love and support to his family . I want my babies to be just like him .
