CD Booklet and referencing

My music video also ties in well with my ancillary products in terms of the theme in which they create together.

The song is an indie/alternative track: artists of this genre often create themes of satire, moodiness, comedy, referencing and surrealism in their art. I wanted to adhere to some of these qualities of the alternative genre so that I could also appeal to a similar audience. My collective product is a satirical illustration of media stigma and the Self-fulfilling prophecy. My music video shows this in its concept and my CD package supports this by having the CD cover as the vampire looking fed up sat against a wall, with a shadow being cast on the wall of her in the stereotypical vampire stance, which also meets the referencing criteria as this famous vampire shadow was created in the film

Nosferatu (1922) which is what I was aiming for, and I show this by also having a picture of the original film when the shadow is cast in my CD booklet.

My CD cover is a good

combination with my

main media product (music video) because it also references real media products about vampires. The shadow cast on the wall in this image is a reference to the 1922 film 'Nosferatu' when the Count is climbing the stairs. This is my way of illustrating media stigma with vampires.

The text on my CD cover is made to look like a shadow to fit the surrounding colours of the shadow being cast on the wall and make the background appear more soft while the centrepiece (vampire) is the most visible foreground along with the darkest part of the shadow.

I used a similar colour scheme across my whole media product, from my music video which had stark black and red colours along with browns and greys, through to my CD cover which has a brown and grey background with red and black in the foreground. This creates an identity within the product and audiences will perhaps be able to identify my music video and ancillaries not just from their obvious bizarre character but also their themes and colours used across the board in my media product.
