Asia Pacific Region to achieve 4 million members by 2020
At the annual Asia Pacific Regional Committee meeting held in Phnom Penh , Cambodia , from 2-8 March 2013 , the Committee set a new membership target in the Region . This was after having achieved the target of 3 million members in the triennium of 2012-2014 , two years ahead of schedule . The new membership target of 4 million members is tied in with the Asia Pacific Regional Membership Development Strategy which sets the direction of the Region until year 2020 . Youth in Action on Climate Change
11 June 2013 marks the launch of a new publication by the United Nations Joint Framework Initiative on Children , Youth and Climate Change . The objective of this new publication is to highlight concrete work young people do to incite their governments and the international community to scale up action on climate change and raise ambition towards a post-2020 climate change regime . It is designed as a tool and a source of inspiration for developing and carrying out projects , initiatives and campaigns to increase awareness of the causes and impacts of climate
change , promote sustainable lifestyles and advance green low-carbon development .
WAGGGS has been highlighted for its initiatives four times in the publication , in the case studies : Leadership Program - ‘ Young women for a greener future ’; World Thinking Day campaign 2012 - ‘ We can save our planet ’; Environment Protectors Committee , Kuwait ; and WAGGGS at COP 18 / CMP 8 . Asia Pacific Region 40th Anniversary History Book
A book detailing the history of the Asia Pacific Region will be launched at the 11th Asia Pacific Regional Conference in Tokyo , Japan later this month . The book outlines the achievements and history of the past 40 years showing how the Region has significantly contributed to the development of girls and young women . It is suitable as a reference book for Girl Guide / Girl Scout Leaders , a souvenir to keep and as a gift to friends , especially Girl Guiding / Girl Scouting and Scouting enthusiasts .
