The GGQ Board and Management Team welcomed the GGA Chief Commissioner, Helen Geard, and NEO, Kit McMahon, to Queensland as they presented the GGA National Road Show.
Members Representative, Margaret Miller, and I spent two weeks travelling around the State meeting up with girls and Leaders. We jigged along at the Keppel Coast Hobby Horse Derby at Yeppoon. We dined with Leaders, girls and parents as we travelled around the State. We joined in games, enjoyed singing along at a campfire, taught the girls and Leaders new skills and watched the girls during their meeting activities. We had a great time visiting Gladstone, Mackay, Dysart, Tieri, Emerald, Barcaldine, Longreach, Charleville, Roma, Wallumbilla and Dalby.
Isn’ t technology great? During our travels, we were involved in both GGQ and GGA meetings using Skype and Redback Conferencing. It is fantastic to be able to stay in touch with everyone even though we are not in the office.
Annalise Taylor, Board member, and Keyana Cobb recently took the opportunity to sail the Brisbane River on the STS Young Endeavour. The Young Endeavour Youth Scheme is a not for profit organisation which provides young Australians with a unique, challenging and inspirational experience at sea. More information is available at www. youngendeavour. gov. au.
The Brisbane Gang Show held its Red Scarf Day, where new members are presented with their Red Scarf. Dot Dalglish, John Oxley Region Leader, represented GGQ at the event. The Gang Show is a theatrical, musical revue organised by The Scout Association of Australia, Queensland Branch Inc. and is one of the longest running consecutive Gang Shows in the world. Thank you Dot!
GGQ was represented at Queensland Government House Open Day in June to celebrate Queensland Day. Thank you to all those who came along to enjoy the festivities!
I was privileged to attend the Walton Bridge-The Gap District Awards Presentation evening. It was wonderful to see that the youth members are working so well on the Peak Achievement Awards in their Units. Well done girls!
Operations Manager, Debbie Camilleri, and I attended Queen’ s Birthday celebrations at Government House with Her Excellency Ms Penelope Wensley AC, Governor of Queensland.
I was honoured to attend a Promise Ceremony in my local area of Caloundra. It was wonderful to be there for the 12 new girls who made their Promise. Bravo girls!
The Gould Road property is under contract for sale. We will continue to work from the temporary premises at Windsor until the end of the year or until the Building Committee finds us a new home.
Keep having fun!
