“ What enticed us most ( besides the free midweek venue hire ) was the ability to turn our wedding day into a weeklong holiday with all our closest friends and family . We had most of the island accommodation booked for our guests and many sunset cocktails and midday ocean dips were had in the lead-up .”
To create their neutral / minimalist elegance vibe , the couple dove into Pinterest and worked with a stylist , bringing in lashings of white and a dash of seaside charm . Their signature shape — an arch — was kept consistent throughout the wedding to bring the whole look together .
“ We let the venue do most of the talking and added in stylings to help complement the surroundings ,” says Brooke . “ Cracked coconut with crisp white flesh exposed , fresh drinking coconuts , white beach umbrellas , and seagrass pendants swinging in the breeze added tones of coastal elegance .” The refined approach had an added bonus . “ Our minimalist style helped keep the costs down whilst not taking away from our beautiful surroundings ,” says Brooke , who followed the chic styling through to her gorgeous gown . Although initially hesitant about bringing the gorgeous train ( we love !) to the island setting , she says “ I ’ m so glad I went with something that was just me .”
The day was a dream , with the couple basking in the island sunshine and the love of their 60 guests . A unique touch was the ‘ ring warming ,’ as Brooke explains . “ Our wedding rings made a voyage through our sea of guests during the ceremony . This meant they were not only a gift from one to another , but were given with the love , support and wisdom of our loved ones .” More of this please !
The bride also has three excellent pieces of advice . “ Throughout the night , steal your significant other away for a moment : just the two of you ,” she says . “ Also . don ’ t get caught up feeling like you have to talk to everyone , they are there for you and to witness your love ... and , if you can , hire a vendor or stylist to do the set-up and pack down on the day . The amount of worry this saved us was worth its weight in gold and meant we could soak up all the positive emotions without any added stress .” Amen to that .
