From a wine country proposal to a holiday wedding on Queensland ’ s Great Keppel Island , Brooke and Ben have forged a beautiful start to forever . The pair first met while working as lifeguards at a local pool — Ben was tasked with introducing Brooke to the world of pool chemistry when a different kind of chemistry started to brew ( haha ). Fast forward through the friend-zone and these sweethearts are now living their love story to the full . “ We have busy schedules so when we are home , we want for nothing more than to putt around our vegetable patch being watched closely by our ‘ supervisor ’ ( cattle dog Blue ), a surf session with friends , or cocktails at our local bar ,” says Brooke .
Ben pulled off a memorable proposal during a month-long touring holiday around South Australia . “ Along the way there had been many , many opportunities to ‘ tie my shoes laces ’ and propose ,” he says . “ Sunsets in the Flinders Ranges , the Eyre Peninsula or even by the campfire under the stars . Brooke was starting to catch on , but I knew her sister ( Lara ) would never forgive me if she wasn ’ t there to capture and help celebrate the special occasion .” The moment was kept under wraps until the pair reached McLaren Vale , at D ’ Arenberg Vineyard . “ We have a special bottle of wine as a keepsake and a video , albeit with the sniffles of Lara crying behind the camera ,” says Ben . Love it . Choosing a wedding venue ended up being a cinch for the couple . “ Great Keppel Island is essentially in our backyard — just a short trip from Yeppoon and you find yourself in paradise ,” says Brooke .
