Marjorie Lee White, MD, MA, MPPM, is UAB Medicine’s
vice president for clinical simulation, assistant dean for
clinical simulation at the UAB School of Medicine, and
director of the Office of Interprofessional Simulation for
Innovative Clinical Practice (OIPS).
Lindy W. Winter, MD, is UAB Medicine’s assistant chief
medical officer for pediatrics. She is also the medical
director of UAB’s Regional Neonatal Intensive Care
Unit and Continuing Care Nursery. In addition, she is
the director of neonatal quality improvement within the
Department of Pediatrics.
Daran Brown, MBA, BSN, is the manager of quality & patient safety
for UAB Hospital. He leads a team of quality coordinators who
pursue improved quality outcomes by applying process improvement
techniques. Brown is a certifie d Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
Lee Hammonds, MSHA, MBA, is director of operations for the
office of the chief medical officer at UAB Health System. In this role,
Hammonds oversees administrative and operational activities, working
closely with departmental and physician leadership teams on strategic
initiatives focused on improving care delivery and outcomes.
Jason Hitchcock, MBA, RN, is manager of quality and patient safety
analytics in the department of Advanced Enterprise Analytics at
UAB Health System. In his role, Hitchcock oversees development of
reporting and analysis on electronic medical record data, providing
leadership with business and clinical insight on care processes and
patient outcomes.
Fameka Leonard, RN, MSN, MSHQS, is the administrative director
for quality & patient safety at UAB Hospital, which includes the
departments of Quality & Patient Safety and Infection Prevention.
She was a part of the first graduating class of UAB’s School of Health
Professions Master’s Degree Program in Healthcare Quality & Patient
Safety. She is a certified IASCC Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and has
served in UAB’s quality department for 12 years.
Jorge I. de la Torre, MD, MSHA, FACS, is UAB
Medicine’s associate chief medical officer for surgical
service lines and periop/procedure areas. He chairs the
Surgical Service Line Quality Variance Committee and
serves on the Ambulatory Quality Council.
Martha Long, MSN, RN, CIC, is UAB Medicine’s manager for inpatient
infection prevention and control. She also chairs the Nursing Quality
Council Infection Prevention Subgroup.
Gerald McGwin Jr., MS, PhD, is the director of advanced enterprise
analytics for UAB Health System. In his role, Dr. McGwin is responsible
for coordinating a team of database and statistical analysts who aid in
the quantification and evaluation of quality, patient safety, and clinical
effectiveness initiatives.
Angela Medici, RN, MSN, serves as manager of ambulatory quality
and patient safety for UAB Medicine, ensuring that patients receive
the highest level of care and safety. Angela is responsible for in-depth
research into patient safety incidents and root cause analyses and
leads several process improvement teams and projects.
Janet Pate, JD, MHA, BSN, RN, is the director of environment of
care for ambulatory services for UAHSF and is a licensed attorney in
the state of Alabama. She is responsible for the safety and regulatory
compliance of the physical environment in the ambulatory healthcare
setting. Janet is the chair of the Ambulatory Health & Safety Committee
and of the Ambulatory Emergency Management Committee.
Anisa Xhaja, MHA, MSHQS, is the manager of quality improvement
department at UAB Hospital. She leads the clinical effectiveness
team in improving and redesigning care for disease-specific
patient populations through evidence-based medicine and process
improvement.
