Kellie Flood, MD, serves as UAB Medicine’s first geriatric
quality officer and is assistant chief medical officer
for Care Transitions. She is also the director of clinical
programs for the Geriatric Section within the UAB Division
of Gerontology, Geriatrics, and Palliative Care.
Todd Jenkins, MD, MSHA, is the senior vice chair of
the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and the
division director for the Division of Women’s Reproductive
Healthcare. He also serves as the assistant chief medical
officer for UAB Women & Infants Services.
Helen Krontiras, MD, FACS, is a professor of surgery and
ambulatory clinic director of the UAB Breast Health Center.
In her additional role as assistant chief medical officer
for ambulatory quality and patient safety and surgical
clinics for UAB Medicine, she participates in regular
reviews of quality outcomes data to help develop process
improvements in the ambulatory setting.
Jayme E. Locke, MD, MPH, FACS, is UAB Medicine’s
assistant chief medical officer for inpatient quality and
patient safety, overseeing quality and patient safety for
inpatient units. She is also the director of UAB Medicine’s
Transplant Analytics, Informatics, and Quality (TAIQ)
program. She’s also responsible for overseeing data
acquisition, integrity, and analyses for all solid organ
transplant programs within UAB Health System; reporting
of outcomes to CMS, other payers, and University Hospital
to ensure UAB’s regulatory compliance; and development
and maintenance of quality assessment and transplant-
related program improvement projects.

Glenn E. Peters, MD, FACS, is the associate chief
medical officer for UAB Hospital-Highlands, where he
oversees patient safety and quality initiatives for all
inpatient services in that location. He also chairs the
Product and Technology Advancement Team for UAB
Perioperative Services.
Don Reiff, MD, FACS, is UAB Medicine’s associate chief
medical officer for the intensive care units, overseeing
quality, patient safety, and clinical effectiveness. He is also
a professor of surgery in the Division of Trauma and Acute
Care Surgery and chairs the Hospital Mortality Committee.
Richard S. Rosenthal, MD, FACE, is UAB Medicine’s
associate chief medical officer for ambulatory services.
He also chairs Medication Services at The Kirklin Clinic
of UAB Hospital and serves on the Credentials Committee
for UAB Medicine. He holds a graduate certificate in
health care quality and safety and is a certified IASSC
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
William S. Stigler, MD, serves as UAB Medicine’s
assistant chief medical officer for the medical service line
and as the medical director of the Medical Intensive Care
Unit.
Benjamin B. Taylor, MD, MPH, is UAB Medicine’s
associate chief medical officer for clinical effectiveness,
overseeing the medical, surgical, and care transitions
medical directors. He also leads UAB Care, UAB
Medicine’s program for clinical effectiveness, which
aims to improve quality, decrease variation, and control
costs through care redesign and clinical and operational
effectiveness.
