BQA’s Events In cooperation with the Supreme Council for Women, the Education and Training Quality Authority organised ‘The Role of Academic Guidance & Orientation in the Sustainability of Women in the Engineering Sector Forum’ in conjunction with the Kingdom’s Women›s Day celebrations. In their papers, the participants reviewed a main theme on ‘The reality of engineering education in the Kingdom of Bahrain in the light of the results of the BQA’s reviews’. The participants discussed a number of important topics during the Forum’s sessions, whereas the first session was held under the title: ‘The role of academic guidance and technical support in the engineering education’ chaired by Dr. Wafa Al Mansoori, DHR Director. The second session entitled ‘The role of higher education institutions in aligning academic programmes with the future labour market needs’, chaired by the Dean of the Engineering College at the University of Bahrain, Dr. Fouad Al-Ansari. education system in the public and private sectors. This is through identifying the type of support provided to them, indicating their needs and available opportunities for female engineers to sustain their jobs in this sector. In addition, the sessions explored the current situation of the female engineer and their real percentage in the labour market, as well as the role of women in the education sector, whether they are a faculty staff member, a teacher, or a student. The BQA Chief Executive, Dr. Jawahar Shaheen Al Mudhahki, also received Budoor, Shahla’a and Raheel Al-Marzooqi, who presented her with a copy of the book ‘Bahrain and International Cooperation in Crime Combat’, written by their late father, LT Colonel Yusuf Abdulla Al-Marzooqi, former Chief of Liaison Department of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers and INTERPOL. The purpose of the Forum is to highlight the Kingdom›s model in empowering Bahraini women, their educational career in the engineering field, and their role in the Dr. Jawaher Al Mudhahki, BQA Chief Execu- tive, received Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al-Hadrami, Dean of International Maritime College of Oman, and his accompanying delegation. They ex- changed experiences and the BQA briefed the delegation on the its role in the field of qual- ity assurance, qualifications framework and the development of the education and training sectors in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The meet- ing was held at the Authority’s headquarters, Seef District. Dr. Jawaher Al Mudhahki, BQA Chief Executive, received Mrs. Faiza Ahmed Al- Mannai, Section Chief, GPS, who presented her a copy of her book entitled ‘Amthal Lawwal’. The Education and Training Quality Authority through the Social Committee, organised an awareness session on «breast cancer» in conjunction with the Kingdom›s celebration of the International Breast Cancer Awareness Day, which falls on 10 October each year. The session was attended by Dr. Al-Mudhahki and several officials of the Commission. The event, which was held under the slogan: ‘Think Pink’», aims to provide moral support to patients with the disease and their families by taking the pink color as a slogan for the day of the event.
