Barcelona Q4 16 During Spring Break I went to Barcelona with my grandparents. The city is beautiful and it has inspired me to write something dedicated to Barcelona because I had such a great vacation. The poem is in English and in Spanish which is an idea that I was actually quite proud of. One line that I really liked from the piece is this part. “Viendo por la ventana, Looking out the window, Los balcones llenos de plantas de colores, I can see past the balconies into the apartment,” I think I did I really good job at balancing the English in the Spanish. This piece has been changed constantly. At first I just wrote a piece that was all in English and it was a lot more specific and less poetic. After I completely changed I had Andrew read and he told me that he liked that I used English and Spanish and that I should just add a couple of more examples. I made the changes that he suggested and sent it back to him and he told me that it was a lot better and he corrected my grammar. Another thing that he really liked was my ending. But one thing I’m not really so happy with is this part. “Barcelona, te admiro I love the architecture, Especialmente los edificios de Gaudia, And of course the gothic quarter,” I was not sure what else to add at this point and I feel like the balancing between the English and the Spanish was not good. Like I feel like I was talking about two different things. Overall I really liked this poem because it captures my feelings towards Barcelona. Mother’s Day Q4 17 This piece was for my mother which I gave to her on Mother’s day. Since this piece was more personal and meant to give to my Mom I do not know how I feel about in a non personal way. I wrote things that my mom and I like to do and inside jokes we have. One thing I wish I would have done is maybe make it more general but at the same time my Mom liked that I included stuff that was just for the both of us. One line that I really liked was this one. “When we go on walks, When I go to the Supermarket with you and you buy me a Starbucks.
