overwhelmed by!) the experience, the front
seats are a dream; for a more measured
appreciation of the spectacle, the higher seats
are recommended.
For this performance, however, it seemed
fitting that I be sitting next to Julian & Fiona
Smith. The last time I sang in Glee Club was
in Meadow House 45 years ago. Whilst much
has changed in its size and remit, Glee Club
remains an important and integral part
of the Quiristers’ broad musical diet. For
giving up their late Saturday afternoons (and
more besides) we must thank both the boys
themselves, together with the many parents
and others who brought such pleasure to the
audience. Hopefully, just as much as they
clearly demonstrated in their own enjoyment
in performing.

All Saints Church, Odiham
Saturday 14 May 2016
The Quiristers were once again warmly
received by an audience in All Saints Church,
Odiham last Saturday. In turn they gave
a memorable evening concert. Malcolm
Archer’s programme selection ranged from
English Song through Bach Oratorio to
Jerome Kern, and was perfectly delivered by
the boys under his direction.
The senior Qs sang in unison, with superb
precision and timing, the soprano aria Ich
Folge from Bach’s St. John Passion. We then
enjoyed two much-loved and well-rehearsed
Stanford songs, later followed by Angus
Benton’s beautiful pure tone soaring from the
pulpit as he sang The Lark in the Clear Air. The
finale was My Way sung by Tristan Wigley
with the strength and sincerity to pull at all
heartstrings - all this supported by our year
8 Qs, Tom Burkill and Luke Elkington, from
the front pew.
