From the Editor’s Desk Discovering our talent It’s been a tough year for the Queensland golf industry following the floods and cyclones. But it hasn’t all been bad sailing and this season’s issue of Q-Golf Online focuses on the great achievements that have been made. Junior golf in Queensland is strong. We have an army of talent coming through the ranks and are proud of the fact that the State has produced so many wonderful golfers. Professionally Jason Day has really hit the spotlight but the amateur ranks are only a few steps away. Cameron Smith has just returned home after claiming fourth in the Asian Amateur Championship and let’s not forget to mention Ashley Ona’s win at St Andrews in the St Rule Trophy earlier this year. David Newbery checks in with Jessica and discovers how hard work can pay off. Of course Queensland also claims many other successful golfers including Wendy O’Connell who this month will be teeing up in the Australian Senior Women’s Amateur to be held at the Toowoomba Golf Club. Wendy has travelled the world playing golf and explains in her chat with Bernie Pramberg that it’s not all about the competition. Golf is about having fun, meeting new friends and just enjoying the great outdoors. There is however no denying the fact that winning gives you a great feeling. Last month saw the Queensland Men’s Interstate Team defend their title in Perth. Queensland has won the title six times and this was the first time they have won consecutive tit
