Teachers go golfing
Teachers from across the
country were treated to four
days of golf – the perfect
recipe for the avid golfer!
The Australian School Teachers
Championship was held at the Palm
Meadow’s Golf Club on the Gold Coast
from September 25 - 28.
It was the third year that the event has
been run with teachers travelling from
far and wide, including Victoria, New
South Wales and Charters Towers in

North Queensland to participate in the
championship.
The charity event attracted a full field
with monies raised going to the RACQ
CareFlight Rescue. Sixty teachers lined up
for the two-day Teachers Championships
with Barry Tippett from The Sands Torquay
in Victoria taking home the trophy.
The B-Grade division was won by Ben
McDonald of Toowoomba and the leading
lady award went to Margaret Costello of
the Gold Coast.

The final day gave teachers a chance to
build up their skills on the course with
the Community Coaching Course held at
Golf Queensland’s State Training Facility at
Brookwater Golf Club.
Twenty teachers attended the Course and
received their Community Golf Coach
1 Certificate which is recognised by the
Australian Sports Commission’s National
Accreditation Coaching Scheme.
