opportunity to recruit kids into their club
with the intention of increasing junior
membership.”
The community focused MYGolf program
also gives parents the opportunity to play
a role by signing up to attend community
coaching courses.
“I certainly encourage that,” Hewat said.
“Mum and dad can get involved in the
skills session where they can compete
with their kid.”
While the MYGolf program is ostensibly
aimed at junior development and
recruitment, it’s also a pathway to family
membership.
In fact, parents can even take part
by doing the various skills sessions
themselves.

“I really see the MYGolf program as a
vehicle for clubs to not only recruit kids,
but to get the parents involved,” Hewat
said.
“There’s an opportunity to offer a family
membership or recruit mum or dad into
the club as well.
“It gives clubs the opportunity for family
focus.”
