“I also think it provides golf clubs with an opportunity to recruit kids into their club with the intention of increasing junior membership.” The community focused MYGolf program also gives parents the opportunity to play a role by signing up to attend community coaching courses. “I certainly encourage that,” Hewat said. “Mum and dad can get involved in the skills session where they can compete with their kid.” While the MYGolf program is ostensibly aimed at junior development and recruitment, it’s also a pathway to family membership. In fact, parents can even take part by doing the various skills sessions themselves.
