The PVF market is facing a number of challenges: ongoing material cost volatility, rising labor and fabrication costs, project timing uncertainty, and continued supply chain adjustments as sourcing shifts towards domestic and regional manufacturing.
What this means for you (especially in the Houston PVF market): A “wait and see” approach to new project builds, with expected hesitation as we watch for direction from the current administration. New construction is not as explosive as it has been in recent years and customers are becoming increasingly price sensitive.
We are not in a downturn. Certainly not in a frenzy, either.
The overall PVF outlook remains healthy. The Gulf Coast continues to be one of the hottest regions globally, with strong demand for fittings, valves, and line pipe. Infrastructure and industrial projects are still moving forward, especially for petrochemical, power generation, and data centers. Maintenance and upgrades are what’s driving the valve market (aging infrastructure, environmental regulations, etc) which is a big opportunity for valve sales and corrosion-resistant materials. There is some slow-down in projects now that the 2022-2024 project boom is over, but companies are shifting towards maintenance which is favoring Distributors, Quick-turn inventory, and repair/replacement work. Bottom line: The PVF Market for 2026 is stable to growing, with a shift from boom-time expansion to disciplined, maintenance driven demand.

On a personal note, seeing PVF RT members and their smiling faces at Cocktails & Commerce (page 12) and at the PVF YPs Clay Shoot really opened my eyes to what makes this organization so special. These smiles reflect a shared pride in our industry. We are proud to be part of this market. We value the relationships we’ve built and the trust we place in one another. We support each other, whether it’s through business partnerships or showing up to events – even after a long day. While projects may not be booming like they once were, our energy certainly is. And here on the Gulf Coast, one of the busiest oil & gas regions in the world, we continue to meet demand TOGETHER.
