ALUMNI UPDATES 2018
Elizabeth Rodgers ’10
E
lizabeth Rodgers graduated from
CPA in 2010 to attend Indiana
University in pursuit of a career
in music and theatre. During
her time in college, Elizabeth realized a
passion for therapy, psychiatric nursing,
and working with people. Her Psychology
major led her to Vanderbilt’s Psychiatric
Nurse Practitioner program, where she
fed her interest in brain science, medi-
cine, and interpersonal therapy. She now
works as a Psychiatric Mental Health
Nurse Practitioner, evaluating and diag-
nosing patients suffering from psychiatric
conditions.
While her plans as a high school senior
changed quite a bit, Elizabeth thanks the
Academy for giving her a quality educa-
tion that rigorously prepared her for un-
dergraduate and graduate-level work.

“My teachers at CPA got to know me on
an individual level and taught me that I
was valued for the things inside my heart
and not just for what I could do. Because
of that, I felt motivated and confident
enough to challenge myself and take
risks. I had the support to keep trying, set
goals, and never give up. This has been in-
valuable,” says Elizabeth.
Elizabeth remembers upper school fac-
ulty members Lynn Jung, Dan Carpen-
ter, and Catherine Sawyer always seeing
the best in her, building her confidence,
making learning fun, and curbing the in-
herent anxiety of college/career path de-
cisions. She has been able to pass on these
life-giving inspirations to her patients,
helping individuals overcome debilitat-
ing illness. She reflects on her work as a
small piece of the cultural conversation
on mental health, removing stigmas and
coming together as a community to heal
those in suffering.
