ALUMNI UPDATES 2018 Elizabeth Rodgers ’10 E lizabeth Rodgers graduated from CPA in 2010 to attend Indiana University in pursuit of a career in music and theatre. During her time in college, Elizabeth realized a passion for therapy, psychiatric nursing, and working with people. Her Psychology major led her to Vanderbilt’s Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner program, where she fed her interest in brain science, medi- cine, and interpersonal therapy. She now works as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, evaluating and diag- nosing patients suffering from psychiatric conditions. While her plans as a high school senior changed quite a bit, Elizabeth thanks the Academy for giving her a quality educa- tion that rigorously prepared her for un- dergraduate and graduate-level work. December. (See also births and adoptions) Mamie Heldman ’11 is a freelance photographer living in Brooklyn. In June she curated an exhibition at the International Center of Photography where she studied Documentary Photography and Visual Journalism in 2016. Amy Maksimowicz Sullinger ’11 married Kyle Sullinger on December 16, 2017. Jonathon Roach ’11 graduated from Baylor University. He currently works as a Special Programs Manager for the Department of Safety and Homeland Security. He serves in a leadership role within the CDL and is in charge of implementing technological solutions that streamline processes. Wesley Toledo ’11 and his band, Post Animal, played at Bonnaroo this summer. They were also interviewed by Rolling Stone magazine. Billboard debuted their new music video in June. Bea Troxel ’11 released her album, The Way That It Feels, in September 2017 and has been touring and promoting it since. She was invited to play as a showcase performer at South by Southwest in March. She played a run of shows throughout the northeast in April and continued promoting 46 Purple & Gold / September 2018 “My teachers at CPA got to know me on an individual level and taught me that I was valued for the things inside my heart and not just for what I could do. Because of that, I felt motivated and confident enough to challenge myself and take risks. I had the support to keep trying, set goals, and never give up. This has been in- valuable,” says Elizabeth. Elizabeth remembers upper school fac- ulty members Lynn Jung, Dan Carpen- ter, and Catherine Sawyer always seeing the best in her, building her confidence, making learning fun, and curbing the in- herent anxiety of college/career path de- cisions. She has been able to pass on these life-giving inspirations to her patients, helping individuals overcome debilitat- ing illness. She reflects on her work as a small piece of the cultural conversation on mental health, removing stigmas and coming together as a community to heal those in suffering. and playing throughout the summer. Bryce Aberg ’12 is attending graduate school at NCSU in Raleigh, NC, finishing up his master’s degree in electrical engineering, and will defend his thesis later this year. He has accepted a full- time offer with Boeing and will be moving to Seattle in October. ’12 Sloane Campbell ’12 is working as a zoo keeper for the bears at the Nashville Zoo. Katie Knell ’12 serves as the Client Engagement Manager at One Trusted Advisor in Brentwood, where she establishes new growth opportunities for the firm through execution of effective business development efforts and brand ambassadorship. She also serves on the CPA Alumni Board. ’12 Bryce Aberg Kate Farley ’12 married Ben Laws on Dec. 2, 2017. Kate teaches kindergarten at CPA. AnnaKristen Myers ’12 works for Calvert Street Group, a Public Relations firm in Nashville. Elizabeth Poston ’12 married Cade Meinel ’12 on September 1, 2018.
