“ Serving as a mentor this year was a great learning experience for me. I’ m pretty sure I learned more from my mentee throughout this year, seeing how he has over 20 years experience in education. I think this program is helpful and inviting for new employees all while creating a climate of relationships knowing we have each other’ s best interests in mind.”— Emily Smothers Cox, Instructor of Fifth Grade
“ I’ ve loved serving as a mentor this year for two incredible new teachers! As CPA has been home to me since I was a student here, it’ s been a joy to share my love of this place and seek to make my passion contagious to these teachers who have become friends. I think the mentor program is a fabulous new initiative to make all teachers feel a part of the CPA family.”— Emily Crane Leuck, Instructor of Kindergarten
“ My academic mentor has done a phenomenal job mentoring me and helping me. She has modeled excellent leadership and vision for our Upper School Learning Services in taking our services to the next level.
My athletics mentor has done an excellent job of mentoring me with the coaching aspect. We meet weekly, and his wisdom has proven invaluable in dealing with situations and people, as well as in the administrative role of the head coach. He has modeled a Biblical coaching methodology that has been awesome to learn.”— Landon Scott, Learning Services Specialist, Head Varsity Boys Lacrosse Coach
“ The mentoring program was so helpful this year! This first year was a breeze because of my mentor! The main benefit of the mentor program was that it highlighted important milestones or events coming up. Most days I am involved with the daily or weekly tasks at hand, but it was VERY helpful to zoom out to the quarter / semester view to see what was coming. I would never have survived this year without those checklists to make sure I was completing everything required of me. A second benefit was the availability of my mentor. Absolutely any question I had was immediately answered. Overall, the mentoring program was a key component of my success as a first year teacher! Thank you so much!”— Lucas McCroskey, Instructor of US Science
“ I truly enjoyed the mentor program this year. I like to care for, encourage, and help people, and this was a great opportunity for me to welcome new teachers and assist them as they began their work at CPA. This program is very beneficial as new employees transition into their teaching role at the Academy.”— Erin Kitchin, Instructor of Preschool
