Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. in Stamford, Connecticut reinvents the hotel
loyalty system with the launch of the award-winning Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG)
loyalty program. Company research found that just two percent of travelers drive 30
percent of Starwood’s profits, leading the company to develop such a program for the
company’s most vital guests. In an effort to draw in a new group of global mega-travelers, the SPG program developed an array of distinct, personal benefits specially designed
for elite SPG members. Benefits include 24-hour check-in/check-out, a personal one-toone Starwood ambassador and SPG Lifetime status.

Skana Spa at Turning Stone Resort in Verona, New York joined forces with the resort’s
culinary department to create a menu of seasonal, nutritionally infused mineral waters.
The signature fruit and spice-infused waters are rich in antioxidants and vitamins and
aid in enhancing many benefits of Skana Spa’s services. Seasonal flavors include:
Cranberry Sage, Orange Cinnamon and Blueberry White Pine. Blueberry White Pine is
considered the signature-infused water offered at Skana Spa as white pine is a symbol
of the Oneida people who were natives to the upstate New York area.
