he ISPA Board of Directors is a dedicated group of individuals passionate about ISPA’s Mission “to advance the spa industry by
providing invaluable educational and networking opportunities,
promoting the value of the spa experience and speaking as the
authoritative voice to foster professionalism and growth.”
Tasked with creating policies, implementing goals and providing the association with its overall direction, the work of the ISPA Board is both
challenging and rewarding. Every single decision is made to ultimately answer
two guiding questions:
l Does it strengthen the industry?
l Does it help ISPA members?
Each year, a Nominations Committee (see sidebar on page 51), comprised of
previous and current ISPA leadership, seeks out the next generation of industry leaders to help guide the association.
Application Process
On April 15, primary and secondary members can visit experienceispa.com to
submit their application to serve on the ISPA Board of Directors for 2014. The
application will be open for 30 days (closing on May 15). Each applicant will
be interviewed via phone in June by two committee members. Those selected
after the first-round interview will participate in a second interview with the
entire committee in July. The Nominations Committee then presents a recommended slate of candidates to the ISPA membership for approval, which will
be announced during the 2013 ISPA Conference & Expo in Las Vegas,
Nevada. The slate will then be sent to the ISPA membership for approval
immediately following the event.
Service Requirements
Members of the ISPA Board of Directors are elected to serve a three-year term,
and are eligible for re-election to a second term. Elected board members take
office during the first board meeting following the annual ISPA Conference,
and participate in a comprehensive orientation process.
ISPA Board members are required to:
l Attend three board meetings in a year.
l Spend at least one hour each month on spa business
and communications.
l Attend the annual ISPA Conference & Expo.
l Participate in monthly ISPA Board Update conference calls.
l Review ISPA Board information for effective governance on a weekly basis.
l Be available as/when needed while working a full-time position.
The ISPA Board is in place to serve the needs of the membership. If you
would like to take the next step in becoming a leader within the association,
be sure to put your name forward and make a difference by serving on the
2014 ISPA Board.
