Politics: Canadian politics has been taken by storm by a series of sexual harassment and assault allegations that are being called an open secret, with three politicians resigning from their positions as a result these allegations.
Economics: The Bank of Canada increased its interest rate to 1.25% from 1% as the result of surprisingly strong economic numbers, with many Canadian banks following suit.
Culture: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced plans for Canada to implement new laws that would protect the rights of Canada’s indigenous population in all future government decisions, while doing away with policies created to marginalize these communities.
UNITED STATES

Politics: A group of roughly two dozen centrist senators have created a deal hoping to breach the gap between democrats and republicans on the issue of immigration, the border wall, and the Dreamers. This deal has yet to be approved however and both sides still have serious issues.
Economics: The US stock market suffered a series of drops before starting to recover on Monday, although fears still remain about the market as it will be affected by inflation.
Culture: 17 are dead, with many more injured in a horrific school shooting at a Florida high school. The suspect was a former student who was expelled, and is now in the custody of the police.
MEXICO

Politics: Presidential hopeful Ricardo Anaya has accused the Mexican government of spying on his actions, the accusations come in light of revelations that the Mexican government was using a spy software known as Pegasus to target journalists and activists.
Economics: The Mexican economy was improving in the 4th fiscal quarter, with an increase in GDP of 1%, however 2017’s overall economic growth decreased from 2016 and hit the lowest year of growth since President Peña Nieto took office.
Culture: While the Mexican Olympic Ski team is relatively small, they made a big impact as they wore Day of the Dead inspired suits, and expressed disapproval for the idea of a border wall.
