Finders Keepers Inside The Makers Mill: A Hidden Treasure
The Makers Mill is distinctive from any other business, let alone an entertainment venue, in Pulaski County. Owner Todd Clayton bought The Mill a few years ago and totally revamped the space into an artists’ haven. The walls are lined with colorful artwork and oldschool memorabilia, where creators can sell their work from within the store. Recently, Clayton expanded the space to include a bar area run by Anastasia Vassiliev, whimsically named“ Finders Keepers”. The bar is a true gem within The Mill, adorned with beautiful murals and fixtures.
Clayton is pleased with the addition of the business inside because it fits seamlessly with his motif, saying, " Finders Keepers works well in this space. We try to keep everything in here to be‘ arts and
vintage’.”
Finders Keepers works hand in hand with The Makers Mill to create an immersive experience. In the warmer months, there is an attached patio where guests can enjoy their beverages in the shade along the sidewalk leading to the rest of the
Entertainment District, making bar hopping simple. Beyond delicious cocktails, Keepers hosts frequent pool tournaments and is the signature watering hole for attendees of Clayton’ s scheduled performances on the in-house stage, featuring
musical acts, comedy bits, and other public shows. In 2026, Clayton is constructing an updated pool hall with classic pinball machines, a permanent food service, and a private party loft rental space within The Makers Mill to complement Finders Keepers. Both The
Makers Mill and Finders Keepers update their followers on various social media platforms about upcoming performances and new additions.
A common theme among Somerset operators in the drinks and entertainment
sector is friendship and a deep respect for one another as small business owners. Owners do not see each other as competition, but rather as a support system and a strength in numbers.
Said Cox of Birdies and Barrels,“ We are always happy to help each other out and participate in group activities like pub crawls between everyone’ s places.” Martin Hoehler of The Tipsy Toad wholeheartedly agreed and urged community members to patronize downtown businesses that work hard to provide services desired by their neighbors,
“ Get out and support every business. The best way to help out is to show up," she said. " If you see an event posted, attend! Without the support, there may not be another opportunity.”
Business owners also take note of the continued progress in improving the downtown area, as Jake Redmond of Southern Vines put it plainly:“ Big things are on the horizon.”
