Shawn Roberts have long had a love for going out picking items from yard and garage sales and other places to resale in their booth at the Peddler’ s Mall in Somerset.
They enjoyed it so much they decided to convert a small building they had on some property in Nancy into their own thrift store.
“ We wanted to give the people of Nancy somewhere to shop other than the Dollar General and Family Dollar. A place where they could find good used items at a good price in a friendly family atmosphere,” said Melinda. Walking into Red Barn Thrift is like stepping back in time to the old time thrift stores from your youth.
Red Barn Thrift has a
little bit of everything, vintage items, books, video games, movies, toys, dolls and a large selection of gently used clothing for children, youth men and women.
They also have one of the largest selections of

vintage vinyl records in Pulaski County with new additions added all the time, so there is always something new every time you come in.
There are a lot of household items and glassware as well as record players, antique radio, trunks, framed artwork, jigsaw puzzles and even a working traffic light.
Since its opening Red Barn Thrift has built quite a following of local residents who come in regularly, some just to hang out and enjoy the atmosphere.
“ We have a lot of regulars, a lot of older people who are happy to have somewhere in Nancy to shop. I try to keep good prices they can afford," said Melinda.“ And we bring things in every day so you never know what you’ re going to find since the last time you were here. I always say it’ s a little bit of a treasure hunt in here.”
