so much ,” he said .
“ All the family is very dedicated to rotisserie chicken .”
The recipe and the quality of every single rotisserie that is served is so important to them that , not only does the recipe have to be followed precisely , but the equipment itself has to be of perfect quality and exact calibration .
Richard added that Tasty Peru ’ s cooking equipment was brought straight from New York with that precise quality process in mind .
Each chicken served takes precisely one hour and forty-five minutes to prepare , but the time it takes is worth it , said Jeferson .
In Peru , the rotisserie chicken would be prepared by burning wood , which is impractical in many locations in the U . S .
However , the Yallico family developed a method using ceramic instead , which maintains that authentic and original flavor .
“ It ’ s an art form ,” said Richard .
“ We take a lot of pride in it .”
In Peru , like in Kentucky , family and food go together , and it was this combination that brought Richard and his family to Somerset a few years ago .

One of the reasons Cynthia , Richard and Jeferson decided to bring their own Peruvian rotisserie chicken dining experience to the Lake Cumberland area is because Cynthia ’ s father has lived in this area for many years .
“ We started in Somerset to come here to be one family together ,” said Jeferson .
The other reason they chose Pulaski County is they wanted to share their cultural and culinary heritage with the people of this area because they really like the people and atmosphere here .
The family was impressed with how polite folks are in this area .
“ Everyone smiles a lot ,” Richard added .
Tasty Peru opened its doors in Somerset about a year ago , and the restaurant is growing in popularity .
Richard said that Tasty Peru is the first 100 % Peruvian restaurant in Kentucky .
He said in Lexington and Louisville there are restaurants that serve a mix of Mexican and Peruvian , or a mix of Peruvian and Uruguayan .
However , only Tasty Peru of Somerset focuses all of it ’ s attention on Peruvianspecific cuisine .

And the local community has responded positively to the restaurant ’ s menu .
“ We are very thankful how people are appreciating us and the restaurant ,” said Richard .
“ We just fell in love with this town ,” Jeferson added .
In Somerset and surrounding towns , Lake Cumberland and many other area attractions bring in lots of visitors who then frequent local businesses , and it also works the other way around .
Restaurants and other businesses themselves
