The instruments used in Madeiran folklore are the traditional instruments such as
machete, rajão, braguinha, rebeca, wire viola, accordion, triangle and the traditional
“brinquinho” made locally.

The
wicker
industry
originated in 1850 in the
parish
of
Camacha,
where
the
largest
production of this type of
handicraft
is
concentrated in the
region. The trees that
give rise to this work -
Before being used to make baskets or
furniture, canes undergo a treatment process where they are boiled to give them
Wickers, grow on land where water is
abundant and each plant can produce
between 2 and 5 pounds of wicker.
Once cut, the wicker has to be stripped
and dried, then proceed to the stage of
transformation.
