City staff engaged students during Florida City Week
City staff connected with hundreds of elementary and high school students during Florida City Week, highlighting the role of municipal government in everyday life from the water flowing from faucets to the parks where children play.
More than 10 departments participated in educational assemblies, engaging with more than 500 students from two charter schools and three St. Lucie Public Schools: Village Green Environmental Studies School, Tradition Preparatory High School, Windmill Point Elementary School, Somerset College Preparatory Academy and Port St. Lucie High School.
Presenters led interactive discussions to help students understand how services such as budgeting, public works, planning and parks and recreation work together to keep the City running efficiently. The program also emphasized civic engagement, encouraging students to recognize the importance of their voices in shaping the City’ s future.
To extend the celebration online, the City hosted a daily trivia contest on Facebook and LinkedIn.
