Flashing lights during storms
Severe weather can cause traffic signals to switch to flashing mode or lose power, so drivers should use extra caution when approaching an intersection.
A flashing red light means drivers must come to a complete stop and proceed only when it is safe, just as they would at a stop sign. A flashing yellow light means drivers should slow down and proceed cautiously, stopping if necessary. If a traffic signal is completely dark, treat the intersection as a four-way stop.
It is important to report downed signals or other immediate intersection hazards by calling 911.

Public Works at City University
Public Works recently connected with the 2026 City University group through an equipment demonstration and presentation about the department’ s work and current projects.
Jerome Simpson, Drainage Heavy Equipment Operator II, showcased the“ Swampmeister,” which is used to clear and support canals, while Armando Jaramillo, Traffic Operations Electrician, demonstrated the bucket truck used to maintain traffic signals.
Following the demonstration, Eric Sexauer, CIP and Sales Tax Project Group Manager, and Beth Zsoka, Executive Project Manager of Community Outreach, shared information about Public Works projects, programs and master plans.
Public Works appreciates every opportunity to engage with residents, answer their questions and help them learn more about the services and projects that support the community. www. CityofPSL. com / PublicWorks
