Rare breaker right on time
When an aging ATS breaker at the MIDFLORIDA Event Center began to fail, triggering the generator to activate unexpectedly, half of the building’ s electrical supply was suddenly at risk. What followed was a coordinated, urgent effort to prevent a major disruption.
The ATS breaker is a large, highly specialized component essential to keeping critical systems powered. Without a functioning unit, significant portions of the Event Center could have gone dark.
The Facilities Maintenance team immediately mobilized, researching discontinued components, contacting vendors across the state and tracking down a breaker panel that hasn’ t been manufactured in years. Their search ultimately led them to Miami, where they located one of the last compatible units available.
Thanks to the team’ s persistence and technical expertise, the outdated panel was secured and installed before the failing breaker could cause a shutdown. The team ' s work highlights the dedication and behind-the-scenes problem-solving that keeps City facilities running safely and reliably every day.
