Welcome, Ayesha!
This is Ayesha, our new Summer Scholar from the Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University. She is pursuing her master’ s degree in International Relations at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies( SAIS) in Washington, D. C.
Ayesha will be with the City for 10 weeks, working on a Traffic Innovation Project using the Bloomberg Path to Public Innovation methodology. She began her work by interviewing various departments to gather their insights and perspectives. Most recently, she conducted community outreach at the City’ s Juneteenth event, her first step in engaging the community to inform her research and next phases of the project.
Youth Council: Naturally PSL Subcommittee
To wrap up an exceptional year of youth leadership, Naturally PSL subcommittee members graduated on June 18, culminating this Youth Council year with an incredible national milestone.
Our very own subcommittee chair, Roslyn Tran, created a documentary chronicling the team’ s community treeplanting event, which was selected for an in-person screening at the National Service-Learning Conference in Washington, D. C., in June. Watch the documentary here.
The youth-led documentary highlights how Port St. Lucie’ s younger generation is actively bringing impacts to local communities by taking actions on environmental initiatives and civic responsibilities.
Recent grant awards
City departments work collaboratively through the Grants & Advocacy Team led by the Strategic Initiatives and Innovation team to support funding for City priorities in alignment with the Strategic Plan. The following grant was recently awarded:
• Children’ s Services Council: Special Event Sponsorship: Funding in the amount of $ 2,000 to provide supplies and accessories for a sensory room at the Independence Day celebration.
