Grants recently awarded to the City
The Strategic Initiatives & Innovation team oversees the Grants & Advocacy Team, which works collaboratively to pursue federal, state and private funding to support City operations. The City of Port St. Lucie was awarded the following grants:
• IRL Council & Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program Water Quality Restoration, Septic to Sewer Conversions to Reduce Nitrogen Pollution in Known Hot Spots: Funding in the amount of $ 300,000 for converting 69 residential septic systems in central Port St. Lucie near the Sagamore Waterway, Elkcam Waterway, and Monterrey Waterway Port St. Lucie’ s low-pressure sanitary sewer system. This grant will help improve water quality.
• FL Bar- Student Internship Grant of the City, County, Local Government Law Section: Funding in the amount of $ 3,600 for 1 summer City Attorney office intern to work daily with attorneys on local government issues. The intern will be exposed to a plethora of legal issues and will gain valuable insight that will help in choosing a career in local government. This grant will help to diversify the economy and employment opportunities.
• FL Dept of Law Enforcement- FY24-25 Drone Replacement Program: Additional funding in the amount of $ 75,000 increasing total award to $ 350,000 for the replacement of noncompliant drones with those that meet required minimum security standards. These grants will help strengthen and enhance public safety across the community.
• Trust for Public Land, On Common Ground Grant: Funding in the amount of $ 25,000 towards a model for resident input on green space needs. This grant will assist in providing a structured, replicable way for residents to shape how green space is delivered in their neighborhoods as the City continues to prioritize increasing access to green space and parks for its growing resident base.
