Public Works hosts public meeting for Bayshore Boulevard study
On April 29, residents attended a public meeting at City Hall to learn more about the Bayshore Boulevard Multimodal Corridor Improvements Study. The study is assessing 1.15 miles of the Bayshore Boulevard corridor, from Prima Vista Boulevard to Selvitz Road. The study aims to identify opportunities for enhancements that accommodate various modes of transportation. The feasibility study involved traffic studies, geotechnical investigations, environmental reviews and overall safety evaluations.
Residents reviewed and provided feedback on proposed improvement concepts for Bayshore Boulevard, which include options for three-lane and four-lane roadways. One of the suggested improvements included the installation of a roundabout at the intersection of Floresta Drive and Bayshore Boulevard. This roundabout is expected to enhance safety, improve traffic flow and serve as an attractive feature for the roadway. Resident input is still being collected. The proposed alternatives will be presented to City Council and an additional public meeting will be held for residents.
The Bayshore Boulevard Project was identified in the City of Port St. Lucie 2045 Mobility Plan, dated July 2023. The project will allow for safer and more efficient vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian travel. The project also will address issues with the current asphalt that needs repaving. Design is scheduled to be completed by summer 2026. www. CityofPSL. com / PublicWorks
