Innovate PSL Academy Green Belt
On April 11, the Innovate PSL Green Belt training, in collaboration with Human Resources, brought together employees eager to learn how to make process improvements using tools and resources already at their fingertips. Inspired by the City of Denver’ s Peak Academy, this hands-on training equips staff to think creatively, solve problems and drive innovation within their own departments. Participants gave glowing feedback and encouraged their coworkers to attend future sessions through PSLAbsorb.
Naturally PSL engages with residents at St. Lucie County Earth Day Festival
The Naturally PSL team continued to launch the Naturally PSL Green Spaces & Places program at this year’ s St. Lucie County Earth Day Festival at the Oxbow Eco-Center, connecting with residents around the City’ s growing efforts to protect and activate our natural spaces. Naturally PSL is Port St. Lucie’ s first residentdriven conservation initiative, inspired by the collective vision of Port St. Lucie residents. The program aims to increase access to nature through conservation, trails and environmental stewardship.
With help of nine Youth Council volunteers, the team hosted an interactive booth featuring a citywide trail map where residents could pin and share the stories of their favorite public spaces, a hands-on, co-visioning station inviting ideas for future nature-based experiences in City-owned conservation lands and opportunities to get involved through the newly launched Conservation Corps and the City’ s first Environmental Stewardship Awards program.
Under the Naturally PSL initiative, the City has identified 2,940 acres of natural areas and 744 acres of land to be improved as future green spaces. In 2024, two new parks were opened, with six more in development. The City also has identified 41.4 miles of trails, with 20.3 miles currently in planning. The Earth Day Festival served as a meaningful opportunity to share these updates, invite resident input and celebrate the community’ s role in shaping a greener, more connected Port St. Lucie. www.
